What are the WEEE Regulations?

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations have been in place since 2007. They were introduced to encourage recycling and reduce waste sent to landfill.
The regulations state that companies performing the following activities have a legal WEEE obligation:
-
Manufacture Electrical or Electronic Equipment products
-
Rebrand - Sell your Electrical or Electronic Equipment with your branding on it
-
Import Electrical or Electronic Equipment into the UK
Please note, if your company is obligated and doesn’t comply you could:
-
Be unable to sell your products without a registration number and WEEE Compliance symbol (crossed out wheelie bin)
-
Face prosecution and heavy fines
-
Immediate removal of all non-compliant listings and products on Amazon
-
Amazon Account suspension without warning
We will guide you through the complexities of the regulations and make sure that you remain compliant with all aspects of these regulations. Lock 54 will carry out all the recycling obligations of each member in accordance with the regulations and obtain evidence of compliance.
